[Updated on September 28th 2020 with survey results]
Just as I did for Season 4 and Season 5, I wanted to find out what fans think is the best (and worst) of Murder, She Wrote‘s season 6 episodes set in Cabot Cove.
In the past, I found that the best way of collecting this information would be to set up a survey using Google Forms which allows fans to rank the episodes from 1 (best) to 5 (worst).
The survey is now officially closed and I’ve tabulated the results below. However, if you really want to submit your vote, you can still do so by following this link: https://forms.gle/NtgiFUQKzpUR7dMr9. I will be checking the results periodically and may update this page if the ranking changes significantly.
Over the span of two weeks (between September 14th 2020 and September 28th 2020), there were 40 Murder, She Wrote fans that took part in the survey. They were asked to rank the five Season 6 episodes/stories set in Cabot Cove from 1 (best) to 5 (worst). According to their votes, the following ranking emerged:
- Town Father (episode 11) — average score: 2.4
- Dead Letter (episode 6) — average score: 2.7
- The Szechuan Dragon (episode 21) — average score: 3.1
- Seal of the Confessional (episode 2) — average score: 3.3
- If the Shoe Fits (episode 13) — average score: 3.4
(Clicking on the links above will take you to my summaries for those episodes.)
Complete details of the survey responses are summarized in the graph below. The bars represent how many people gave a particular ranking to each episode.

What is interesting about these results is that fans are split when it comes to their favorite and least favorite episode. “If the Shoe Fits” only ended up in last place because everyone generally agreed it was mediocre, and not because everyone agreed it was the worst. In fact, “The Szechuan Dragon” received the most “worst episode” votes; but it also received almost an equal number of “best episode” votes. In fact, it received almost as many “best episode” votes as “Town Father“.
