This includes series that started prior to 2000 and continued into the decade, as well as shows that started in the 2000s and continued into the 2010s and beyond. At the turn of the millennium, there was a surge in popularity of reality and true-crime series. However, as I want to focus on scripted/fictional shows on this website, and so documentary-type series were not included in the list below.
