Browse British detective series by decade or return to the TV Detective Database:
Below is a list of British mystery/crime/detective series from the 2000s. This includes series that started prior to 2000 and continued into the decade, as well as shows that started in the 2000s and continued into the 2010s and beyond. At the turn of the millennium, there was a surge in popularity of reality and true-crime series. However, as I want to focus on scripted/fictional shows on this website, and so documentary-type series were not included in the list below.
Clicking on a title link in the list below will take you to my post about that specific show (if I have created one). Additionally, the list also includes links to places where you can watch/stream the show online.

Thanks for letting me know about that series! I haven’t heard of it before, but looking it up it seems that it originally ran in 1998-1999. I’ll be sure to include it when I compile a list of 90s shows.

There was a series shown in the US in the 1990s or 2000s, I think, about a police detective investigating a crime that involved some women living together. They had covered up the murder of the husband of one of the women years before. The detective ended up getting involved with one of them. What was that series??? It most likely was shown on PBS in the US, or possibly on A&E.

I think you may be thinking of the 1997 mini-series ‘The Ice House’.

Hi, I’m trying to find a series set in two time lines, one in 1980 maybe then in the present. It was a murder where the people agreed to cover it up, but somehow is solved in the end. It had the song Babylon’s burning in it. Tia
